POINT BLANK - Columnist Jonathon Widran who writes for Jazziz, Jazz Editor, and Jazz and Wine magazines describes the group in the following quote. “Whoever said that the gospel infused urban jazz ensemble Point Blank is “the freshest, most musically exciting band to emerge from Philadelphia in years” might have been understating things just a bit. Why stop there? They’ve recently played a bunch of regional festivals, an opened for many notable artists but their soaring melodies, explosive R&B and world beat grooves and towering spirituality is just too big to be limited to the realm of “regional sensation”. Point Blank may be a sensation just in the Philly region now, but from my point of view, they’re going to become a national and even world urban jazz sensation as soon as radio programmers and festival bookers get into the groove and realize Point Blank is exactly what fans, who are seeking more than the same old thing, want to hear!”
Point Blank consists of eight musicians who combine their talents to create a fresh new sound in the smooth jazz genre. The members are Winston Ferguson, Dorden Bivings, Steve Pratt, Juan Castellanos, Zack Stevens, Kerry Little, Jerry Blake and Gerald Chavis. The group received national airplay with their first album entitled “A Point of View”. The new recording entitled “SoulStream” has received attention from music lovers and is highly anticipated throughout the country.
"Point Blank is the most complete group I have ever heard. Their sound is hot, soothing and electrifying all in one. Their music will grab you on the very first note. Music does not get better than this"!
